2024 3nd International Conference on Acoustics, Fluid Mechanics and Engineering

On November 9, 2024, the 3rd International Conference on Acoustics, Fluid Mechanics, and Engineering (AFME 2024), supported by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Computational Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory (SJTU CMHL) and hosted by the Academic Information Exchange Center (AEIC), successfully convened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The conference pooled academic researchers and industry professionals to share and discuss the latest advancements in the fields of acoustics, fluid mechanics, and engineering.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Decheng Wan, Director of the SJTU CMHL, Distinguished Professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Progam, Shanghai Eastern Scholar (Tracking Program), Principal Investigator of National Key Research and Development Programs of China, Outstanding Talent of the New Century supported by the Ministry of Education, Shanghai Outstanding Academic Leader, Shanghai Pujiang Talent, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Strathclyde (UK), Zhejiang University, and Dalian University of Technology, delivered an opening speech on behalf of the organizing committee and congratulated the conference on its successful convening.

The conference featured keynote presentations by renowned domestic experts and scholars. Firstly, Professor Liang Yu from Northwestern Polytechnical University presented a report titled “Advanced Acoustic Testing Techniques for Aerospace Machinery Equipment,” showcasing cutting-edge achievements in the field of acoustic testing for aerospace machinery.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Pan Gao from Shanghai Maritime University delivered a report titled “Numerical Simulation Study on Aerodynamic Performance of Rotor Sails with Pit Surfaces,” providing attendees with in-depth insights into numerical simulations of rotor sail aerodynamic performance.

In the wake of Associate Professor Pan Gao’s presentation, Conference Chair Wan presented him with an Honorary Certificate.

Subsequently, a report was given on behalf of Professor Minqing Wang from Northwestern Polytechnical University by his student, Yinling Li. The report was titled “Vibration Characteristics of Time-Varying Stiffness Oscillator Systems Based on the Finite Difference Method,” providing a fresh perspective on the vibration characteristics of oscillator systems through detailed elaboration.

Next up is Researcher Haiqiang Niu from the Institute of Acoustics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), with a presentation titled “Underwater Acoustic Source Localization Using Machine Learning,” showcasing research that introduces machine learning techniques into the field of underwater acoustic source localization.

Lastly, Associate Professor Xiaolei Li from Ocean University of China presents on “Estimation of Normal Modal Parameters for Ocean Acoustics,” offering new insights into the estimation of normal modal parameters in ocean acoustics.

This conference covered various fields, including linear acoustics, acoustic materials, hydrodynamics, and engineering fluid mechanics, providing a platform for participants to showcase interdisciplinary academic achievements. During the conference, delegates actively exchanged ideas, shared research results, and jointly promoted the development of acoustics, fluid mechanics, and engineering.
Upon the successful conclusion of all scheduled sessions, the 3rd International Conference on Acoustics, Fluid Mechanics and Engineering (AFME 2024) drew to a close.
